1st Special Course for Diplomats from Uganda [12- 23 June 2023]

The 1st Special Course for Diplomats from Uganda is being held at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi from 12-23 June 2023. Twenty-four diplomats from Uganda are participating in this course.

The Special Course was inaugurated on 12 June 2023 by Shri Gaddam Dharmendra, Dean (SSIFS) in the presence of H.E. Prof Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda, High Commissioner of Republic of Uganda to India. Both officials extended a warm welcome to the participants. During his recent visit to Kampala, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar had referred to the long tradition of exchanges in education and training between our two countries. This sentiment underlines the ongoing two-week Special Course for Diplomats from Uganda at the SSIFS. The Course is also in line with the well founded and wide ranging bilateral relations linking India and Uganda. Our relations are historic, spanning over a century, and have deepened and strengthened in recent years across various sectors including education and health.

The present training programme is also unique in that it was designed in close consultation with concerned Ugandan authorities and includes modules on SDGs, Climate Change and Mission LiFE; development partnership & cooperation; the Global Economic Landscape, and impact of technological innovations across domains such as agriculture and health. There will also be sessions on Holistic Healhcare with a focus on Ayurveda and Yoga as part of International Day of Yoga. The Ugandan diplomats would also be visiting the International Solar Alliance Secretariat, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Pradhanmantri Sangrahalya, National Museum and media houses.
